A fireman’s funeral

I arrive early, anticipating a crowd. There is a line of police cars with their lights activated, sitting empty on the road leading to the church. My GPS announces my arrival, and I turn into the bucolic driveway. A uniformed officer approaches my car.

‘Friend or family?’ He asks. ‘Please park in the back and reverse into a spot.’
